1. Intro

The war diaries have been transcribed from photocopies of the original war diaries obtained from the National Archive. Every effort has been made to transcribe the work verbatim, however, it must be recognised that the documents were hand-written and had faded prior to reproduction making some entries difficult to read. Any unrecognised words are shown as '?'

National Archive documents covered: WO 95/401/3, WO 95/401/4, WO 95/401/5 and WO 95/401/6

6. Oh and the author

I am the grandson of Sergeant Herbert Jagger who served in 'J' Special Company Royal Engineers in The Great War. He is mentioned in the diaries, type 'Jagger' in the search box and read his entry. He didn't get the medal !
